The anti-depressant drug Bupropion (sold under the names Aplenzin, Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL, Zyban) has been linked to birth defects in children when the mother took the medication during pregnancy. This link is reported in a recently published articled in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, which found that mothers of infants born with a specific type of congenital heart defect were more likely to have reported taking Wellbutrin (bupropion) than mothers of control infants. The study reports a link between early pregnancy bupropion use and congenital heart defects.

Birth defects include left outflow tract defects. One defect in particular that is believed to be linked to the use of Wellbutrin during pregnancy includes coarctation of the aorta — a narrowing in the body’s main artery.  If you or a loved one took Wellbutrin during pregnancy and your child was diagnosed with congenital heart defects or other congenital malformations, you or your child may have a cause of action against Glaxo Smith Kline, the manufacturer of Wellbutrin, especially for Coarctation of the Aorta, open heart surgery, or a heart transplant to correct a Wellbutrin related congenital birth defect

In order to consider filing a lawsuit against GlaxoSmithKline, attempting to settle for cash compensation from the manufacturers of Wellbutrin, or otherwise discussing a Wellbutrin class action lawsuit, please contact Wellbutrin heart defect lawyers Tim Edwards or Ed Wallis today by calling 1-800-632-1404.
